Web Site Resources
The resources detailed below were used to build the current design; are used to maintain elements within the individual web site sections; and are intended to aid a producer who may also be considering similar theme or individual elements.
Web Site Building
- WebTech University was the first online activity in which I participated and while a member of the GeoCities Community Leaders program. There are other excellent resources which involve peer to peer teaching and learning, so we encourage our readers to become involved in the early stages of web site production.
- CSS Edge provided resources which expanded an interest in CSS and alternative web site production techniques. We also found excellent resources and documented solutions to design problems.
- Zen Gardens is an extraordinary show case. Which is a garden of delight and wonderment, alternative and imaginative designs. Not your ordinary garden variety of web site productions.
Talking Hands Award
- Deaf links are a labor of love. Learning ASL and old English signing at an early age, encouraged me to establish the deaf links section about the time our Talking Hands Award was established.
- White Papers and Informational, is an ongoing educational experience for this author. Perhaps the more you read, you too will find that there is much more to learn and unlearn.
- Newsroom feeds were added in 2006. Although the award community as a whole is rather late to adopt community wide RSS, considering that what we have now was first proposed by Jef Peace in 2002 and discussed in the various award community forums, everyone realized that a significant amount of time would be required for implementation and a dedicated server would be required, along with those willing to keep everything updated. For those reasons Aiko Timmer and all who have assisted brother Aiko are to be thanked as the awards community embraces a new era of communication. For brother Aiko a quote applies by Edward de Bono " An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea." Historians of future years will write about the relevance of the award community RSS feed.

The Site Fights
Research and discovery during the time with The Site Fights which started in 1999 and continues even today has produced as varied an array of published subject matter as was team themes involved with this family centered activity of competition and building friendships.
The Site Fights underwent a structural change in August 2006, where some teams were dropped and others were merged, due in part to reduced activity and responsible leaders, which has been evidenced by other family centered activities or communities since 911.
Help Now International Initiative
The Award Community consists of many organizations whose primary purpose is to assist persons new to the creation of a website presence and introduce them to the wonderful world of award giving and award program creation. We call this Help Now.
This inclusive approach by all organizations will provide peer to peer assistance, resources, areas of interest, expertise, tutorials, web master tricks and tips, it is open ended, by linking in a meaningful way the vast resources within each organization and their individual memberships, subject only to the submission and editorial policies (TOS) of each organization.

Enjoying The Internet In Retirement
The first six months of retirement were a continuation of online activity, a mental and physical preparation for changes in lifestyle and getting on with the next chapter of life. A substantial number of activities were curtailed or dropped, although they had been fruitful and enjoyable in years past.
Philosophy of Enjoying The Internet
I have pictures of Martin spanning the years we have known each other, some which picture health and others in remission from his cancers which are witness to his chemo treatments. This man was a devout Roman Catholic whose faith was not at odds with the Hindu belief system of Good Karma. We spoke often about living words and I grew to also accept the belief that every word we speak, think and write lives in perpetuity not bound by physical limitations. I also share Martins belief that giving words become living words bound in our physical presence and released when our physical bodies return to dust.
Martin and I shared our Roman Catholic faith, Good Karma, giving words and living word philosophy and each helped the other grown. I will continue to seek and be drawn to those like Martin while carefully avoiding Bad Karma, although that is not entirely possible in this chapter of my life while on mother earth.
Therefore the true friendships with Rhonda Serong, David Bancroft, Bernie Howe, David Taylor, Cynthia Jones, Aiko Timmer and people of their like mind who are still living and those who have departed mother earth shall always be a path to follow.
